Shared Collections Partnerships
Through our shared collections partners, Brandeis Library vastly expands the resources available to researchers.
- Eastern Scholars Academic Trust (EAST): EAST is the collaborative effort of 150+ academic and research libraries to preserve and provide long-term access to their print collections. Brandeis, along with other member libraries, has committed to retain over 240,000 titles from our collection. Over 11 million books across all member libraries—have been committed to EAST retention, ensuring long-term access to these materials.
- HathiTrust Digital Library: Stewarded in partnership with academic and research libraries, HathiTrust preserves and provides lawful access to millions of digitized books and serials. Search HathiTrust.
- Boston Library Consortium (BLC): As a consortium of 24 academic and research libraries in greater Boston and the New England area, BLC member libraries partner to share library materials and on projects across a variety of library areas. These can be requested through ILL or you can walk in and borrow directly from the library. Learn about borrowing materials from other BLC libraries.
- Center for Research Libraries (CRL): A consortium of academic and research libraries that acquires and preserves scholarly research materials, CRL provides a shared collection of five million books, journals, documents, newspapers, and electronic resources to its member libraries to supplement their holdings in the humanities, science, and social sciences. Highlights include the largest circulating collection of newspapers in North America, with thousands of international and U.S. newspapers; foreign journals rarely held in U.S. libraries; thousands of dissertations from outside of the U.S.; and major collections from Africa, Latin America, Middle East, Europe, Asia, and South Asia, in various formats.
Membership in CRL allows Brandeis faculty, staff, and enrolled students to easily request these items via Interlibrary Loan. CRL materials can be searched and requested via OneSearch or WorldCat. You may also search the CRL catalog or browse the CRL topic guides to find out more about the collections available. CRL materials can be borrowed for extended loan periods, allowing for intensive use of long runs of publications and archives.
