Rohleder receives early career award from American Psychosomatic Society
Psychology professor accepts honor, gives talk in Miami
Nicolas Rohleder, assistant professor of psychology, was recently awarded the American Psychosomatic Society’s 2013 Herbert E. Weiner Early Career Award.
Rohleder accepted the award in Miami, Fla., last month, where he gave a talk on “Stress System Regulation of Inflammation.”
The award is given to academics who have contributed to the field no longer than 10 years after receiving a doctoral degree.
In his work, Rohleder tries to get a better understanding of how stress translates to mechanisms that can lead to heart disease and other health problems.
“I was hoping to get it and I’m pretty happy that I did,” Rohleder says. “For our small field, there’s still a lot of competition. This is pretty cool.”
