March 23, 2005

3:30 - 5:00pm
Multi-purpose room, Shapiro Campus Center

Join the Institute for Investigative Journalism for a lecture by Asra Nomani, a former Wall Street Journal reporter and Muslim women’s rights activist who created a national stir in 2003 by walking in the front door of her mosque and praying alongside men. Nomani will discuss how her career in journalism and her close friendship with Danny Pearl eventually transformed her into an activist. She is the author of “Standing Alone in Mecca: An American Woman’s Struggle for the Soul of Islam.” A book signing and reception will immediately follow the lecture. Admission is free.
