All Brandeis Online programs are developed using the best practices in online learning. Courses are 8-10-weeks long and follow a 100% asynchronous teaching model in the online learning environment, with no set days or times for interaction.

Brandeis University’s Graduate Professional Studies (GPS) is looking for an industry leader to teach Bioinformatics Scripting and Python Programming in our Master of Science in Bioinformatics program.
This course is a high-content introduction to scripting and programming with applications in bioinformatics. It is appropriate for students with little previous programming experience. The course covers the fundamentals of working with Linux systems, using bioinformatics tools, and manipulating biological data files.
The focus will be on scripting with Bash and Python. The course will also touch on topics such as how to interact programmatically with SQL databases and RESTful web services, and how to work with distributed compute systems to perform large calculations.

Brandeis University’s Graduate Professional Studies (GPS) is looking for an industry leader to teach Structural Bioinformatics in our Master of Science in Bioinformatics program.
In this intensive course students will investigate the interrelationships existing amongst protein sequence, structure, and function through the lens of a structural bioinformaticist. Topics covered range from analysis of protein structure to domain classification, phylogeny, structural modeling, interaction site prediction, kinetics and thermodynamics of biomolecular interactions, and structure-based drug design.
Throughout the course students will be exposed to software tools utilized by structural bioinformaticists in their daily work.

Brandeis University’s Graduate Professional Studies (GPS) is looking for an industry leader to teach Molecular Biology, Genetics, and Disease in our Master of Science in Bioinformatics program.
This course covers concepts of classic genetics, from Mendelian inheritance to quantitative and complex traits, associations and population genetics. It addresses the anatomy and function of genomes from humans and model organisms, and how individual components form signaling pathways.
Using the Human Genome Projects as an example, sequencing and mapping technologies are covered. Basic sequence analysis methods are introduced, along with techniques to navigate genome browsers and other relevant databases. Cloning and methods for genetic manipulation, including CRISPR, are introduced.

Brandeis University’s Graduate Professional Studies (GPS) is looking for an industry leader to teach Mathematical Modeling for Bioinformatics in our Master of Science in Bioinformatics program.
This course introduces various modeling, prediction, and machine learning techniques including linear and nonlinear regression, principal component analysis, support vector machines, self-organizing maps, neural networks, set enrichment, Bayesian networks, and model-based analysis.

The application process consists of the online application (including an uploaded current resume or CV) and, if subject matter qualifications are met, a series of interviews at the discretion of the Program Chair and Director of Program Development.

General Qualifications for Adjunct Faculty
Brandeis Online faculty have earned (at the minimum) a master's degree, with many holding terminal academic degrees and industry-specific credentials. Previous experience teaching online is not required, as Brandeis Online offers a comprehensive training program for qualified faculty. Below are the general qualifications to teach:
Required Qualifications
- Active professional employment in an industry closely aligned to the field of study
- Master's degree or higher aligned to the field of study
- Strong communication skills when conveying complex information and promoting in-depth engagement on course topics
- Strong interpersonal skills when relating to students
- The ability to devote adequate time to courses, including responding to students and providing meaningful feedback in a timely manner
Preferred Qualifications
- Teaching experience preferred; online teaching or learning experience preferred
