A $3.5 million renovation of the Linsey Pool should be completed in early 2012, and the varsity swimming and diving program will be reinstated for the 2012–13 academic year.

In March, the board of trustees approved the capital expenditure, which will include repairs to the pool and pool deck, new locker rooms, an entryway, lobby improvements and updated mechanical and electrical systems.

“We are thrilled that the pool will be reopening,” said Director of Athletics Sheryl Sousa ’90. “We will be able to offer varsity swimming and diving again, along with an array of recreational programming, such as open swim hours, fitness classes and intramural and club activity.”

The pool was closed in fall 2008 due to mechanical and electrical problems, and the varsity swimming and diving program was temporarily discontinued.
