| IN THE SPOTLIGHT | Participate in Brandeis Reaccreditation Visit | Tuesday, Nov. 6 10:15-11 a.m. Hassenfeld Conference Center, Lurias | Every ten years, Brandeis participates in a review of its accreditation by the New England Commission of Higher Education (NECHE). The process includes completing a reflective self-study of our campus which can be found here. On Tuesday, November 6 from 10:15-11:00, there will be an open forum for staff to share their experiences of working at Brandeis with members of the accreditation team. The event will be held in the Lurias, and anyone who is interested is encouraged to attend. |
| Team Building Workshop | Thursday, Nov. 8 10-11 a.m. Hassenfeld Conference Center, Lurias | The ability to understand and communicate effectively in teams is an important part of our personal and professional success. Through discussion, interactive exercises and a debriefing session we will explore how teams can work together most effectively and learn how to apply successful team concepts and strategies in very practical ways. Interpersonal difficulties such as trust, skill identification, and conflict resolution and communication issues will be discussed.

| FUTURE EVENTS | The Faculty Club Thanksgiving | Thursday, Nov. 15 and Friday, Nov. 16 11:30 a.m. – 2:00 p.m. The Faculty Club | Please join us at The Faculty Club on Thursday, November 15 and Friday, November 16 for our annual Thanksgiving holiday luncheon. Served from 11:30 a.m. – 2:00 p.m. on each day, the menu includes classics like roasted turkey, apple sage bread stuffing, mashed potatoes, and shallot green beans, and also features new recipes such as quinoa kale stuffed acorn squash and pumpkin seed crusted cod.
During the event guests will also have the opportunity to order fresh baked apple, pumpkin, and/or blueberry pies from the Brandeis Kutz Bakery for pickup at The Hoot Market the week of November 19.

| FRIENDLY REMINDERS | Vacation Carry-over | With the end of the calendar year approaching, it is a perfect time for employees to review their vacation balances. The University vacation policy limits balances that employees are allowed to carry-over to the next calendar year. On January 1, 2019, employees who have balances that exceed the carry-over limit will have their balances reduced. Please plan ahead and use your accrued time to avoid losing any vacation time. As always supervisors approval is required before vacation leave can be taken. Please visit the Human Resources website to view the paid time off policy. |
| Time Management Workshop | Monday, Dec. 3 10-11 a.m. Hassenfeld Conference Center, Lurias | Do you feel like you are always on the run from one activity to another? Time has become more precious as professional and personal demands increase and our ability to manage multiple tasks and schedules diminish. In this session, you will learn proven techniques for managing time effectively. You will analyze how you currently spend your time, review time-wasters and set new priorities, based on your values and goals. You will also learn how to combat procrastination and develop a personal action plan that takes into account the balance and achievement of career and personal goals.
