Carol (Kopeikin) Brill, PhD’90, of El Cerrito, California, on Nov. 8, 2019. A social justice activist with a generous heart, she was the director of the state chapter of the National Association of Social Workers, advocating for programs that would improve the lives of the poor and racial minorities. Survived by husband Harry, a daughter and two grandchildren.

Elena Hochkeppel ’90, of Sterling, Virginia, on May 1. Known as Glen at Brandeis, she was a passionate drama teacher for 25 years at Broad Run and Stone Bridge High Schools in northern Virginia, recalled for being “brilliant, slyly hilarious, talented, loving and so very kind.” Survived by two children.
