In Memoriam: Alumni Classes of 1970 - 1979

Alan Segal, M.A.’70, the Ingeborg Rennert Professor of Judaic Studies at Barnard College, died on Feb. 13 of complications of chronic leukemia. He leaves his wife, Meryl; two children, Ethan and Jordan; a brother, Eric; and a sister, Carol.

Michael Grinberg ’72 of Maui, Hawaii, a psychiatrist, died on April 5. After graduating from Brandeis, he earned his M.D. from the University of California, San Diego. He completed his psychiatric residency work at the Veteran’s Hospital in La Jolla, Calif., then practiced psychiatry in the San Diego area for 20 years before moving to Hawaii. He leaves a daughter, Hailey; a brother, Gary; a sister, Rhonda; and his mother, Shirley. His wife, Marta, died last year.

Helen Gee Chin ’77 of Waban, Mass., co-owner with her husband, Calvin, of Calvin Chin’s Martial Arts Academy, died on Dec. 16, 2010. In addition to her husband, she leaves a son, Andrew; a daughter, Jessica; her parents, Douglas and Booy; two sisters, Dolly and Bonnie; and a brother, Edward.
