Stuart Grief ’82, of Needham, Massachusetts, a business executive who worked at Fidelity Investments, Textron, Steward Health Care and the Boston Consulting Group, died on Aug. 20. He earned a master’s in corporate strategy from MIT’s Sloan School of Management. He leaves his wife, Amy ’82; children Brooke and Jordan; parents Claire and Tully; and siblings Myrna, Rhonda and Heather. Laura (Weingast) Nieratko ’84, of Hancock, New Hampshire, died on Sept. 27. Margaret Weigel ’86, of Medford, Massachusetts, a musician, photographer, artist and prolific blogger, died on Sept. 7 after a long illness. She earned advanced degrees from the University of Massachusetts, Boston, and MIT. Margaret cherished the longtime friends she made at Brandeis, many of whom attended her memorial. She leaves her husband, Rick; sister Carol; brother David; and nephew Nick. Lora Merkley, MFA’88, of Burlington, Ontario, Canada, a professor and author whose research focused on 15th-century music, died on Oct. 1 after a four-month battle with cancer. She leaves her husband, Paul.
