Brandeis in the Berkshires is a dynamic extension of the University’s notable commitment to excellent and accessible liberal education, social justice, and the open and thoughtful exchange of ideas and issues. Brandeis in the Berkshires transforms our world by connecting new research and original thought produced at Brandeis University to a larger community of policy planners, business, community, and political leaders, writers and thinkers.

You will engage in vigorous inquiries into moral and practical issues facing you as you lead, think and live in an emerging global culture. Each of the select institute programs address contemporary issues in an interactive forum with compelling intellectual discussions. Sessions draw on case studies, literature, drama, the arts, the social sciences, and other primary sources and texts. All sessions foster the creation of new knowledge that transforms participants’ ethical, political and humanistic perspectives.

Brandeis in the Berkshires programs offer an opportunity for engaged learning. Programs are led by Brandeis University faculty moderators and other national and international experts. In the evenings, participants enjoy the celebrated cultural offerings of the area—Tanglewood; the Jacob’s Pillow dance center; and Shakespeare and Company, an active partner in the Brandeis in the Berkshires institutes.
