ESPECIALLY FOR STUDENTS
Fall 2024 Bills

The Fall 2024 bill will be available to students and families via the Nelnet Student Account Portal in the first half of July with a due date of August 2, 2024. Students can access their billing details by clicking the Nelnet Student Account Portal link found within the Student Account worklet in Workday. Students who have never accessed the Nelnet Student Account Portal before will need to set up their student profile (refer to the Nelnet - Account Access job aid for detailed instructions) before they can view the bill.

In order for parents, guardians, sponsors, or another party to receive the student's tuition bill, view the student account, and make payments, the student must add them as Authorized Parties in Nelnet. Once they are set up as an Authorized Party, parents/guardians can access Nelnet directly with their own usernames and passwords; they cannot use the student's log-in credentials to access the portal.

SFS will send a notification to students and authorized parties when the information is ready in Nelnet.

Remote and Hybrid Working Policy

Brandeis’s primary location of operations is in the Commonwealth of MA. The university is registered to do business only in Massachusetts and the following states: NH, VT, ME, CT, RI, NY and CA (states as of June 2023)

Hiring managers may not make an offer of employment to any job applicant seeking a fully remote arrangement and/or work in a non-approved state until receiving approval through this process. Hiring managers are responsible for informing their Talent Specialist and HR Business Partner as soon as they are aware that they may have an out of state finalist for an open position. New employees are not eligible for a fully remote arrangement, including fully remote employment in Massachusetts, fully remote employment in an approved state or working for Brandeis in a non-approved state until approval by the Vice President/Dean of the employee’s department and the respective Executive Vice President is obtained. Performing work for Brandeis, even on a hybrid basis, in a non-approved state, must be approved by the Vice President/Dean of the employee’s department and the respective Executive Vice President.

For additional information, please visit the Remote and Hybrid Working Policy page.

Paid Time Off and Vacation Carryover Policy

Time off is an important benefit, and we encourage all staff to use their available time to rest and reenergize. Vacation time is meant to be restorative, is important for our well-being and can help improve productivity and creativity. It also can help reduce stress, help prevent burnout and promote work-life balance.

Brandeis offers a comprehensive benefits package, including a generous time-off program for staff. As we approach the Summer, it is important for managers and staff to review vacation time balances. Managers should actively balance the needs of staff time off, with the operational needs of their department, and help staff find time to use available vacation days before the end of 2024.

While the University does provide a service-based vacation carry over policy, there are limits on the number of days that can be carried over from one calendar year to the next. Staff with high vacation balances may lose time, not including carry over amounts, if they do not use their available vacation days before December 31.

As a reminder, managers can review individual employee's time off balances in Workday under ‘Time Off’ and also review an absence calendar under ‘Team Absence’ that shows each employee's planned vacations and other absences (approved and unapproved). View the Benefits Eligible Staff Workday Time Off Categories.
