Robert Moulthrop’s debut collection of short stories, “To Tell You the Truth,” is out. The 11 stories — most of which were previously published in such literary journals as Confrontation, Reed and Portland Review — look at loss, love, illness and fear, with a measure of happiness thrown in. Chick (Charles) Scher and his wife, Reda, have lived in New Orleans for 20 years. They recently rented an apartment in Wynnewood, Pa., to be near their children and grandchildren. Chick remains active after retiring from practicing pediatric hematology/oncology at Tulane Medical School four years ago. He teaches pediatrics to medical students, takes Judaic studies courses at Tulane, plays the recorder in an early-music group, does daily physical exercises and participates in his synagogue.
