Gerard “Jerry” Melanson ’82, of Fruitland Park, Fla., a surgeon and U.S. Army veteran who obtained the rank of major, died on Aug. 18, 2013. He served in the Army for 14 years in Texas, Korea and Bosnia before settling in Florida. He was a surgeon at the Villages Regional Hospital and had his own solo practice. He leaves his wife, Mary; his daughters, Michelle and Nicole; his son, Gerard Jr.; his mother, Carol; his sister, Susan; and his brothers, John, Louis and David. Glenn Taylor Connell, MA’82, of Sabbattus, Maine, a theoretical physicist, died on July 18, 2013. He worked as a professor, research scientist, physicist and engineer. He most recently served as a nuclear engineer at the Portsmouth Naval Shipyard. He leaves his father, Bill; his mother, Lynn; his sister, Laurie; his brother, Scott; his son, Aaron; his daughter, Heather; and his grandchild, Sydney. Bruce Lieberman ’88, of Livingston, N.J., a managing director at Citi in New York City, died on Aug. 19, 2013. A native of Boston, he worked for Citi for more than 25 years. He leaves his wife, Stacey ’87; his son, Alex; his daughter, Sydney; his parents, Lenore and Martin; and his sister, Denise.
