Brian Ashin joined Manatt, Phelps & Phillips’ corporate and finance practice as a partner in its Washington, D.C., office. He focuses on project-finance, mergers, acquisitions, private-equity and corporate-finance transactions involving the energy, infrastructure, entertainment, health-care, manufacturing, real-estate and retail industries. Rivka Chana Liss-Levinson married Benjamin Shepard Aronin in June at Temple Israel of Great Neck, N.Y. She is the director of survey research at the Association of State and Territorial Health Officials, a nonprofit public-health organization in Arlington, Va. Rachel Margolin and her husband, Lavie, co-authored “Can I Wear My Kippah on Job Interviews: Career Guidance for Sabbath Observant Jewish Professionals.” The book provides strategies for navigating tricky workplace situations. Rachel and Lavie welcomed their second child, Jack, in March. Jason Roberts was promoted to partner at the Philadelphia-area law firm Rubin, Fortunato & Harbison. He represents employers in employment litigation around the country and also counsels their human-resources departments on best practices and employment policies. Eva Stern, MA’04, was named to Jewish Week’s 36 Under 36 list for her work to make Judaism more widely accessible through the Jewish Outreach Institute (now called Big Tent Judaism), which helps the Jewish community reach out to unaffiliated, intermarried, LGBTQ, multiracial and other Jews who often feel marginalized from organized Jewish life. In March, Marci Surkes and her partner, Dara Lithwick, welcomed their second child, Rebecca Noa, baby sister to Jacob “Jake” Israel, who turned 3 in August. The family lives in Ottawa, Canada, where Marci serves as senior manager for policy and research to the leader of the Liberal Party of Canada. Aaron Weinglass married Samantha Rae Newman in June at the Liberty Warehouse in Brooklyn. He is an accountant in Manhattan at Moelis & Co., an asset-management firm. Samantha is a corporate-event planner in Manhattan at Univision Communications, the Spanish-language media company.
