IN THE SPOTLIGHT
Brandeis Emergency Notification System (BENS)

Faculty, staff and sponsored account holders will soon receive an email with a personalized link to review and update contact information used for the Brandeis Emergency Notification System (BENS). This system is used not only to inform the Brandeis community of an emergency situation affecting campus, but also to inform the community about severe weather delays and closures.

Emergency Management and Information Technology Services have been reviewing university systems in preparation for the transition to Workday and want to ensure that data is complete and that the transition to the new system is seamless.

We encourage all faculty, staff and sponsored account holders to review the email and click on the link. The crisis contact information you provide will help the university keep you safe and fully informed during a crisis or severe weather event.

If you have any questions regarding BENS, please contact the Director of Emergency Management Joshua Manfredo.

Workday Replaces Paper Time Sheets
Monday, June 24

Start your workday with Workday. Beginning June 24, all non-exempt, hourly and student employees will begin entering time worked and time off requests into Workday (pay period June 23-30). The submission and approval deadline for the online (paperless) timesheets has not changed - time reporters need to submit their time by the end of the day on Monday (July 1), and time managers need to approve on Tuesday (July 2).

Workday will replace BUSS for employee self-service tasks like entering time worked, requesting time off, updating personal information, view payslips, and more. Here’s how you can learn more and get help from the Workday@Brandeis support team:

  • Attend Time Tracking Demonstration: Tuesday, June 25 from 10 to 11 a.m. in Usdan International Lounge to learn how to submit time worked. Intended audience: non-exempt, hourly and student employees, managers who approve time.
  • In-person: Stop by the Feldberg Atrium Conference Room or designated Workday@Brandeis Ambassador locations.

  • Email: Contact us at workday-help@brandeis.edu
  • Call: 736-WORK (6-9675) to speak to the Workday@Brandeis support team
.
  • Visit the Workday@Brandeis website to view detailed information on the rollout, key dates, and resources including job aids, training videos or FAQs.

IN OTHER NEWS
Turn It Off Program This Summer

This summer, Brandeis will again encourage community members to “Turn It Off” -- our annual, university-wide campaign designed to reduce campus energy use during heat waves when electricity demand rises to its highest levels.

Reducing electricity use during peak times results in environmental gains as well as financial savings. Through previous Turn It Off initiatives, Brandeis has seen as much as a 20-percent decrease in its peak-day electricity demands. On the days that are predicted to be the summer’s hottest, we will alert you via email to “Turn It Off”.

For more information, please visit the Turn It Off Webpage.

If you have any questions about the Turn It Off program, please contact sustainability manager Mary Fischer.
