Dissertation Year Fellowship
These fellowships provide a year’s funding to complete a dissertation. Awards are restricted to ABD students who are in their fifth or sixth year during the year of the fellowship and writing dissertations in an area of the humanities or humanistic social sciences. However, the Dissertation Year Fellowship will not be offered in the 2020-21 academic year. Learn more about the dissertation year fellowship.
GSAS Master's Research Fund
Provides master's students (from any discipline) up to $300 to help cover research expenses primarily for a thesis or major paper. Learn more about the GSAS Master's Research Fund.
GSA Travel and Research Grants
These grants provide funds to conduct research, primarily for a thesis or the “major project” required by some graduate programs. Grants are typically in the $150-$300 range. Learn more about the GSA Travel and Research Grants.
Provost Award
An award in the $500-$1,000 range to support of an ABD-doctoral candidate's dissertation-related research expenses. Note: this award is managed and sponsored by the Provost's office, not GSAS. Learn more about the Provost Award.
Travel Funds Request
Doctoral Travel Funds have been suspended due to the COVID-19 pandemic.
University Prize Instructorship
Provides doctoral students (from any discipline) the opportunity to design and teach an upper-division course in their field of research. However, the University Prize Instructorship will not be offered in the 2020-21 academic year. Learn more about the University Prize Instructorship.
