Brandeis theater arts presents a modern day Macbeth

This weekend, the Brandeis Department of Theater Arts presents a production of Shakespeare’s legendary “Macbeth” with a modern twist.

Directed by Zoe Golub-Sass '16, the production approaches the classic Shakespearean tragedy as a contemporary family drama and posits the Macbeths as the charming young couple next door. This dark psychological and political play is driven by a marriage sinking under the weight of childlessness and obsession. As their ambition for power swiftly takes on a life of its own, the Macbeths are driven to the brink from which they may never return.

The production opens Friday, Dec. 4 at 8 p.m. with subsequent performances Saturday, Dec. 5 at 2 p.m. and 8 p.m., and Sunday, Dec. 6 at 2 p.m. Tickets are available online, by phone at 781-736-3400 or at the Brandeis ticket office in Shapiro Campus Center.
