Brandeis students placed hundreds of American flags on the Great Lawn in front of the Shapiro Campus Center today to commemorate the Sept. 11, 2001 terror attacks.

Junior Gabriella Torrijos was inspired to create the memorial and asked members of the Brandeis Democrats and Brandeis Conservative-Libertarian Union, as well as the Office of Student Life, for their support.

"This is a day to put aside all of our differences because we can all unite around the fact that we believe America is strong in the face of adversity," said junior Mark Gimelstein. "We're very resilient as a country, and this memorial is an example of that. We can unite and never forget that awful day. We can unite, and we'll be better for it."
