Brandeis University celebrated the 50th anniversary of its African and African American studies department's founding with a two-day academic symposium on Feb. 8-9.

Angela Davis '65, Julieanna Richardson '76, H'16, Hortense Spillers, PhD '74, and many of the participants from Ford Hall 1969 were just some of the many alumni who returned to campus for the commemoration.

This slideshow showcases some of the symposium's highlights.
