Anti-Defamation League gives Brandeis University top grade in this year’s antisemitism report card rankings

March 5, 2025

The grades are in on the second annual Anti-Defamation League’s (ADL) Campus Antisemitism Report Card and Brandeis University again received an A.

The Report Card 2.0, which assesses 135 colleges and universities based on 30 categories, is tracking how colleges are addressing antisemitism in the wake of the October 7, 2023, attack on Israel by Hamas. The ADL evaluated colleges on “Administrative Practices,” “Jewish Life on Campus” and “Campus Conduct and Climate Concerns” among other criteria. Institutions were also graded on the impact and enforcement of recently enacted policies as well as incidents that happened on their campuses in recent months.

Brandeis University, which was founded on Jewish values that remain at the core of our mission today, was one of eight colleges to get the top ranking. Our community is rooted in purpose, guided by our founding Jewish values of openness, a reverence for learning, and a commitment to repairing the world. We will continue to be a leader in the ongoing fight against Jew hatred and against the exclusion of any group from opportunities to grow and thrive.

Founded in 1948 by the American Jewish community as an antidote to antisemitism and to quotas on Jewish matriculation in elite higher education, Brandeis is open to all qualified individuals and is opposed to hate toward any group. Our founders knew that hate often begins but rarely ends at antisemitism, and we are proud to be acknowledged for our continued support of Jewish students, faculty, and staff at a time when many campuses are struggling to protect these members of their community.
