Vehicle Idling is Prohibited on Campus

Brandeis' Energy Conservation and Management Policy, and state law, prohibits vehicles from idling on campus for longer than 5 minutes except in the case of snow removal and emergency operations. This applies to faculty, staff, student, contractor, University-owned vehicles and shuttles.

Idling vehicles pollute the air and present several health and environmental hazards. With thousands of residents on campus, it is central to the mission of the University to keep our campus population safe and healthy. Pollution from idling vehicles poses a direct risk to our population.
