| IN OTHER NEWS | Building Temperatures and Energy Conservation | With many of our buildings largely unoccupied, we have an opportunity and a responsibility to conserve energy. As we all know, climate change will continue to be a threat to our community and the world throughout and beyond this crisis, and any effort we can make now to reduce our impact on climate change will pay off for generations.
This week, Facilities Administration switched temperatures in largely unoccupied campus buildings to unoccupied levels, which are noted in the Energy Conservation and Management Policy.
Science buildings, occupied residence halls, the library, and other buildings providing essential services to our community, including our chapels, will not be affected by this change and will continue to maintain temperatures according to our normal occupied schedule. |
| Videos of Human Resources Programs & Policy Changes Sessions Available Online | Starting in 2020, the Office of Human Resources rolled out new and revised policies, rewards and benefits programs. To help the community understand these changes, BUSAC and the Office of Human Resources co-sponsored sessions to provide an opportunity to discuss these policies and benefits and ask questions. Sessions were recorded and available online. For more information and to watch the videos please visit the Office of Human Resources website. |

| Workday - New and Improved Features | On March 7, Workday was updated with several new and improved features. Non-exempt hourly and exempt staff will see some changes when submitting a request for time off. The Time Off and Absence calendars have been enhanced to support accessibility with assistive technologies. There is an improved look and feel when viewing the status of absence requests; approved requests now appear as shaded in green providing better visual indicators. The Pay Details in the Workday mobile app has a new design where you can easily view an overview of your pay or view pay details such as most recent pay, current or year-to-date details (e.g., gross pay, taxes and deductions). To see the changes, review the Manage Absence Requests job aid. Mark your calendars - the next Workday update is scheduled for Sept. 12. | Denim Day | Wednesday, April 29 | Denim Day began more than 20 years ago, after the Italian Supreme Court overturned a rape conviction. The justices felt that since the victim was wearing tight jeans, she must have helped remove them— implying consent. The following day, women in the Italian Parliament came to work wearing jeans to show solidarity. Since then, Denim Day has become an annual symbol of protest against erroneous and destructive attitudes about sexual harassment, sexual assault, and rape.
The Brandeis community is invited to join a digital Denim Day this year on Wednesday, April 29.
Here are some ways to show solidarity on Denim Day with those who have experienced sexual violence:
- Wear denim. Denim jeans, jackets, hats – any and all denim is encouraged.
- Show your support on social media with the hashtag #DEISDenimDay. Share pictures of your denim and let survivors know that you support them. PARC will be reposting your messages of support all day.
