From the Class of 2023
As the Class of 2023 nears the completion of their Fall I Clinical Rotations they share thoughts and insights on their experience.
"Rotating at Tufts Medical Center in their Maternal Fetal Medicine unit has given me opportunities to face challenging conversations and counseling situations. Sarah Carroll, clinical supervisor, has been a consistent support in preparing me to succeed in these endeavors. I've been impressed with the variety of cases we see and the dedication given to each patient." Rebecca Clark
"My Fall 1 was a prenatal rotation at South Shore Hospital. In this rotation I’ve gained experience counseling about screening and diagnostic testing options, delivering normal and abnormal results, and responding to ultrasound findings. My supervisor has encouraged a human-centered and humorous approach to counseling that I will carry with me into my subsequent rotations and career." Jesika Smith
"I got to learn a lot about how a lab works, as well as take a deep dive on how different kinds of tests work, and for what situations they are best suited. I was also able to watch many interesting lectures on professional topics. My final presentation for this rotation is on neonatal seizures and what kinds of testing should be considered depending on the patient's symptoms." Lucian Parece
In other news.
Gretchen Schneider, Program Director summited her first 4,000-footer in the White Mountains of New Hampshire. Gretchen, accompanied by daughter Emily and husband Tom, successfully reached the summit of Mt Carrigain (4,683) on October 9th. The feat was only slightly tempered by a skittish descent in the sleet and impending nightfall.
Members of the Class of 2023 spent a sunny fall day apple picking in Stow. It was a great opportunity to catch up outside the classroom and enjoy some much needed laughter. We wish them good luck as the class starts their second fall clinical rotations the week of October 24th .
