Additional Satisfactory Academic Progress Requirement

Federal regulations require students receiving federal assistance to demonstrate satisfactory academic progress in accordance with standards set by the university. Brandeis GPS is responsible for monitoring academic progress within its graduate programs.

This means students must successfully complete two courses (with a B- or higher) during a term in which they receive federal loans. If they fail to do so, they will be allowed to receive federal loans for the next session but will be placed on probation. If they fail to successfully complete two courses during the probationary period, they will lose eligibility for federal loans from that point forward.

Students may submit an appeal if there are extenuating circumstances that prevented them from successfully completing coursework for two subsequent terms.
