Women's basketball team ranked no. 5 nationally in Division III

Both men's and women's squads open conference play at home Friday night

Jessica Chapin '10 leads the Judges against Rochester

The Brandeis women's basketball team is ranked No. 5 in the nation according to d3hoops.com. The 10-0 Judges went unbeaten in non-conference play by defeating Rhode Island College, 77-47, on Tuesday night. Now coach Carol Simon's squad has a chance to climb even higher up the rankings in their University Athletic Association opener on Friday night.

Junior guard Jessica Chapin of Mendon, N.Y., the team's leading scorer at 14.2 points per game, will lead the Judges against her hometown team as the top-ranked University of Rochester Yellowjackets come to Red Auerbach Arena for a 6 p.m. tilt. Come cheer on the home team!

The women's contest will be followed by a battle between the Brandeis and UR men at 8 p.m.

The Judges also take on Carnegie Mellon this Sunday, with the men facing the No. 15-ranked Tartans at noon, followed by the women at 2 p.m.
