Nelson Figueroa's journey from Brandeis to the big leagues

He becomes the first baseball alum to have his Brandeis number retired

Since graduating from Brandeis in 1998, Nelson Figueroa has played professional baseball all over the world. One of the biggest highlights happened earlier this month, when he pitched the best game of his Major League career — a complete game shutout — for the New York Mets. Less than a week later, he was back on campus to become the first baseball team alum to have his Brandeis number retired.
