'The Emperor of Atlantis, or Death Quits' at the MFA
The Boston Lyric Opera has extended a special invitation to Brandeis University faculty and students to its Signature Series exploration of:
"The Emperor of Atlantis, or Death Quits"

"The Emperor of Atlantis, or Death Quits" was created at the Theresienstadt prison camp by Composer Viktor Ullmann and poet Petr Kien. The tragic performance history and subsequent reverberations of this moving and ironic vision of humanity will be explored by the creative team behind BLO’s production: Steven Lipsitt, conductor; David Schweizer, stage director; Richard Beaudoin, Brandeis alumnus and composer of BLO’s newly-commissioned prologue, "The After-Image;" and cast members. Featuring excerpts from "Emperor," other works composed in Theresienstadt and, for the first time publicly, an excerpt of "The After-Image."
