Brandeis iPhone app

Brandeis Mobile, the university's new iPhone application, went live last Friday, Dec. 9. It is free and available to the public through the App Store on ITunes or on an iPhone, iPod Touch or iPad. Just search for "Brandeis Mobile."

The app has links to university news stories published on BrandeisNOW and to several blogs, including President Fred Lawrence's blog and the Global Brandeis and Science at Brandeis blogs.  There's also an interactive campus map, libraries of videos and photographs and links to the Athletics site, the Library catalog and an emergency contacts page. The university will continue to add features over time.

"Adding a calendar of university events is high on our list," said Bill Burger, associate vice president of communications. "One of the many good things about an application like this one is that it's never 'done.' We'll look to the Brandeis community for feedback and suggestions for what might make the application even more useful in the future."

The university also launched a mobile-friendly web page that owners of Android devices can use to get some of the same functionality as the Apple app provides.

For more information about the iPhone app and mobile support for other platforms, just visit the new Brandeis mobile applications page.

The newly released app was developed by the Office of Communications together with EZ Axess, a web-developer based in Sunnyvale, CA, near San Jose. EZ Axess has developed mobile apps for 10 other universities, including the University of Maryland, Fordham and San Diego State University.
