Irene Abrams appointed associate provost for innovation

Irene Abrams has been appointed associate provost for innovation, effective immediately. She will continue as executive director of the Office of Technology Licensing, which she has directed since coming to Brandeis from MIT in 2006. The Office of Technology Licensing is responsible for the patenting and licensing of university inventions.

As associate provost, Abrams will focus on expanding Brandeis' interactions with industry in the sciences by building relationships to attract sponsored research. In addition, she will be launching the Virtual Incubator, a program to help foster entrepreneurial students and faculty in the sciences by providing mentorship, education and small seed grants to help them move inventions from the lab to the marketplace.
