Energy Saving IdeaLAB offers tips for science buildings

Learn ways to reduce energy use, purchase more efficient products

What can you do to make campus a greener environment?

Stop by the Energy Saving IdeaLAB & Lighting Fair in the Shapiro Science Center Lobby Friday and find out.

The fair will focus on what energy-saving actions science and math students, staff and faculty can take in their offices and labs, as science buildings use five to 10 times more energy per square foot than other buildings. From switching fume hoods to a lower setting to turning off computers when they are not use, sustainability experts will be on hand to offer suggestions, receive feedback and answer questions.

An array of energy efficient lighting products for campus or home will be available from an ENERGY STAR certified vendor for a deeply discounted price. The great “Mass Saver Combo Special” includes $120 worth of lights for only $10 (cash and check only).

The drop-in event, sponsored by the Sustainable Energy Program, Physical Plant, TechniArt, NSTAR and GreenerU, will be held between 10 a.m. and 2 p.m. and refreshments will be provided.
