81 undergraduates to be inducted into Phi Beta Kappa

The Brandeis University chapter of the Phi Beta Kappa honor society has announced the election of 81 new members this year.

Founded at the College of William and Mary in 1776, Phi Beta Kappa is the oldest and most prestigious undergraduate honor society in the country. Selection for membership is based on the quality of the candidates’ academic record and the breadth of their scholarly interests beyond their concentration.

"The inductees have shown themselves to be exceptional scholars. Their commitment to reach beyond the classroom in pursuit of interdisciplinary learning and intellectual curiosity reflects the very essence of the society's values." said Eva Bellin, Myra and Robert Kraft Professor of Arab Politics and president of Brandeis' Phi Beta Kappa chapter. "I am proud to recognize and welcome them to Phi Beta Kappa."

Of the honorees, 74 are members of the Class of 2023, and seven are in the Class of 2024. They will be celebrated in an initiation ceremony on May 19.
