Carmen Aguilar, a leader in higher education and continuing education, has been selected as the next vice president of the Rabb School of Continuing Studies at Brandeis.
Aguilar joins Brandeis from Providence College, where she has served as dean of continuing studies since 2020.
"Throughout her career, Carmen Aguilar has shown an ability to lead transformative initiatives and drive innovation," said Provost Carol Fierke. "I am confident that she will build upon the strong foundation at the Rabb School, and lead it to new heights. I thank the search committee for their dedication and commitment in finding a new leader for online education and continuing studies at Brandeis."
From 2006 to 2020, Aguilar was the dean of workforce and community education at Bristol Community College in New Bedford, Massachusetts. During her tenure, she forged strategic partnerships for customized education and training, spearheaded innovative workforce development projects, and developed comprehensive lifelong learning programs.
In her most recent role at Providence College, Aguilar successfully cultivated strategic partnerships, delivered innovative programs to a diverse adult student population, expanded curricular strengths, led successful distance education initiatives, and advanced the institution's continuing education mission and strategic priorities.
"I am excited to join the Brandeis community as the university prepares to celebrate its 75th anniversary,” Aguilar said. “I'm looking forward to being a member of Provost Fierke's team, and working with the talented faculty and administrators to build the Rabb School of Continuing Studies into a national model of excellence."
Aguilar's career began at ITEMS-EGADE Business School in Monterrey, Mexico, where she served as the director of information technology services. She later served as the director of innovation learning at UNC Kenan-Flagler Business School.
Aguilar succeeds Lynne Rosansky, who has served as the Rabb School's vice president since 2019. She will join Brandeis on August 1.
