Essays and transcripts don't always tell us the whole story.

An interview gives you an opportunity to tell us about yourself in person, unconstrained by the formality of the written page and the remoteness of school records.

Please visit our Campus Visit page to sign up for an interview.

Student interviews are scheduled directly through the admissions office. Interviews are not required, but are helpful both for the admissions office and the applicant. Interviews are conducted on campus by current seniors and staff, or off campus by staff and alumni.

Interview evaluations will become a part of your application and may be used in the decision making process. Although interviews are typically casual by nature, you should be prepared to talk about yourself and your interests relating to Brandeis and your high school experience. An interview will provide you with the opportunity to ask questions and share additional personal information.

About On-Campus Interviews

Guidelines for on-campus interviews are as follows:

  • Prospective first years may schedule interviews on campus any time after June 1 of their junior year.

  • First year candidates must schedule on-campus interviews by early December (Nov. 1 for Early Decision I)

Interviews for prospective first years are now available for registration. Please visit our calendar to schedule your interview. In order to register, you must select "Freshman" as your student type and entry term "Fall 2019".

About Off-Campus Interviews

Off-campus interviews with an alumni representative are available to first-year applicants in some regions during the fall and winter of each year. Skype interviews are available as an option for domestic students, and some Skype interviews may be available for international applicants. Regular Decision applicants must have already submitted their application in order to request an interview. You can request an off-campus alumni interview by filling out our online request form. Please note that interviews are not guaranteed. It will not negatively impact your application if you are not matched with an alumni interviewer.

About Interviews for International Students

Brandeis encourages international students to interview with InitialView or Vericant. These are third-party services that conduct interviews in-person and via an online video platform in China and many other countries. The deadline for submitting the interview is November 15 for Early Decision I and January 15 for Early Decision II and Regular Decision.

Alternatively, Brandeis offers Skype interviews for prospective international students who do not have the access to InitialView or Vericant platforms. A limited number of Skype interviews are available through the Office of Admissions after you have submitted your application. International applicants with questions about Skype interviews should fill out this form.
