Favorite class
Introductory physics course with Professor Hugh Pendleton (see more below). Also enjoyed many classes I took in the Department of Near Eastern and Judaic Studies.

Favorite hangout
I enjoyed hanging out with my friends in Ridgewood. While we were supposed to be studying, we ordered ice cream and pizza and talked all night.

Best memories
There are three. Working in a physics lab as a sophomore, where I met my husband, Sheldon, PhD’72. The big Northeast blackout, which occurred during my freshman year. The weather was warm, so it became a huge party. And working as a waitress at Chum’s.

Brandeisian(s) who most influenced your life
Professor Hugh Pendleton, who taught introductory physics. He was a very inspiring teacher. The way he presented the subject matter prompted me to become very curious about how science affects society, which is my main interest now. He started me thinking about issues that I still think about today.

How do you stay connected to Brandeis today?
Primarily through my involvement with the Brandeis University Science Advisory Council. It’s very interesting, and I love the people whom I’ve met. I also occasionally speak to classes or at National Women’s Committee events.
