Brandeis to celebrate Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr. on Monday
Program will honor his legacy through performances of dance, speech and song

Dr. King visited Brandeis in 1957 to speak about "Justice without Violence"
WALTHAM, Mass. — On Monday, Jan. 19, Brandeis will celebrate the memory of Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr. with a program of inspirational song, oratory and dance. The 4 to 6 p.m. program will feature:
- Gospel singer Louise Grasmere
- Reverend Hurmon Hamilton of Roxbury Presbyterian Church
- Status Quo, a dance troupe featured on MTV's "America's Best Dance Crew"
- The Alpha Phi Alpha step team from Boston University
- A special presentation of Dr. King's speech, "I Have a Dream," by Kennett Altidor '10
Free and open to the public.
The event is sponsored by the MLK Scholars and Friends club, the Division of Student Affairs, the Brandeis Student Union and the Office of Communications.
On Tuesday, Jan. 20, members of the Brandeis community are invited to watch the inauguration of President Barack Obama in the Shapiro Campus Center Theater.
