Summer Registration 2008
Students in the Following Programs Are Required to Register For Summer and Should do so Through SAGE Self-Service by June 2.
- Ph.D. students in the Life Sciences, Chemistry, Physics, or Computer Science program are required to be on campus or at a related lab for the full year while engaged in taking classes and/or doing research related to your field of study and should register for CONT 250B (2137). Registration for Graduate Summer Term does not count toward the residency requirement. The registration fee [$565] will be waived if you register by June 2.

Master’s students in the Genetics Counseling program are required to participate in a clinical internship and should register for BIOL 212A (2139). Registration for Graduate Summer Term does not count toward the residency requirement. The registration fee [$565] will be waived if you register by June 2.

Master’s students in the Coexistence program are required to participate in an internship and should register for COEX 297A (2140). Registration for Graduate Summer Term does not count toward the residency requirement. The registration fee [$565] will be waived if you register by June 2.

Master’s students in the MAT in Education or the Hornstein Jewish Professional Leadership program should register for the courses determined by your program. Full-time tuition will be charged.
Students Planning to Receive an August degree
Students planning to receive an August degree must complete registration by sending an email to Richard Cunnane in the Office of the University Registrar indicating that you wish to enroll in the summer term and indicating the appropriate course, listed below, for your category. Include your SAGE identification number and full name in the body of the email. Please note that students who have completed all requirements for the degree prior to June 1 will not need to register for the summer term. However, you will need to notify the Graduate School that you wish to change your status for the summer to Degree Pending.
- If you are defending your dissertation by August 1 and/or depositing your dissertation by August 15, you are required to register for CONT 250B (2137). (You will be required to register as a Continuation student in the fall term if you do not deposit you dissertation before August 30). Please note that the application for an August degree is due in the Office of the Registrar by June 2, 2008. The registration fee [$565] will be waived if you register by June 2.

If you are completing a thesis or final incomplete[s] in order to obtain an August Master’s degree you are required to register. As in item 2a above, you must have a status as an active student to submit a grade that will lead to the awarding of a degree. You should register for CONT 250B (2137). The registration fee [$565] will be waived if you register by June 2.
Students Not in a Program Listed Above, But Engaged in Summer Research
Students not in a program listed above, but engaged in summer research may choose to register. You must complete registration by sending an email to Richard Cunnane in the Office of the University Registrar indicating that you wish to enroll in the summer term for CONT 250B (2137). Please include your SAGE identification number and full name in the body of the email. If you plan to apply for a student loan to assist with expenses during this term you will be required to register. In addition, your advisor will need to verify that your research is integral to your degree via email to Peggy Higgins in the GSAS office. The registration fee [$565] will be waived if you register by June 2.
Students Not in a Program Listed Above, But Plan to Complete a Thesis or Independent Study
Students not in a program listed above, but planning to complete a thesis course or independent study course during the summer term must complete registration by sending an email to Richard Cunnane in the Office of the University Registrar indicating which thesis or independent study course you wish to enroll in. Please include your SAGE identification number and full name in the body of the email. A per course charge will apply.
Brandeis Summer School
Students who are pursuing a Master’s degree or Post-Baccalaureate certificate may choose to enroll in graduate level courses in the Brandeis Summer School. Some GSAS departments may choose to designate selected courses offered through the Summer School for credit towards a GSAS Master’s degree or Post-Baccalaureate certificate. Students may review course listings in the Summer School Bulletin on the Summer School web site. A petition to have these courses count toward an individual student’s GSAS Master’s degree or Post-Baccalaureate certificate will be required by the Office of the University Registrar.
