Transportation Options

Located in Waltham, Massachusetts, Brandeis University is easily accessible via public and private transportation.

We encourage you to carpool if you plan to get to Brandeis by car since parking is a challenge in the middle of the day.

We are served by both commuter rail and public bus, if you choose to use public transport.

A shuttle bus will leave Brandeis/Roberts rail station at 11:45 am to arrive at Loop Road nearest to Goldfarb Library. Rapaporte Treasure Hall, where the event is occurring, is in the library.

Commuter Rail

Picture of commuter train at Brandeis/Robert stationBrandeis University is located on the Fitchburg/South Acton commuter rail line at the Brandeis/Roberts station.

Please see the Fitchburg timetable for schedules and information. Trains outbound from Boston will arrive at this station at 10:25 am and 11:39 am. (These trains do not stop at every stop. You must tell the conductor ahead of time that you want to disembark at Brandeis/Roberts station.)

One-way tickets are $6.75. 

A shuttle will run between the Brandeis/Roberts station and Goldfarb Library. 

Guests may also walk from the train station to Goldfarb Library. The 0.5 mile walk takes approximately 10–15 minutes, and is mostly on a gradual incline.

Local taxis are available. There is no taxi stand at the Brandeis/Roberts station, so pre-arranged service is recommended.

MBTA Bus 553

Picture of MBTA bussesThe MTBA bus 553 serves Waltham and stops on South Street at the entrance to Brandeis University and near the Brandeis/Roberts commuter rail station. See the 553 schedule for times from your departure site and fare information.

A 553 bus stops at Brandeis at about 11:32 am and 11:33 am at Turner Street, the bus stop closest to the rail station where you can pick up the 11:45 am shuttle.

If you choose to walk, it is 0.3 miles or approximately 9 minutes uphill to the Rapaporte Treasure Hall in the Goldfarb Library.

Parking

Parking is available to visitors at the Charles River Lot on Angleside Road. From there, you may take a taxi to Goldfarb Library where the event is occurring, walk to the Brandeis/Roberts rail station and catch the 11:45 am shuttle, or walk the 0.7 miles directly to the library.

Shuttle Bus

A shuttle bus will leave Brandeis/Roberts commuter station at 11:45 am to Goldfarb Library. After the event, the shuttle will leave Loop Road adjacent to the library at 2:30 pm to return guests to the Brandeis/Roberts station after the event.The shuttle is not wheelchair accessible. If you have mobility challenges, please call (857) 227-2481 to arrange a ride to the library.
