Around the World in One Night
Tuesday, Feb. 11

Brandeis Dining Services and the Office of Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion (ODEI) invite faculty, staff and students to a celebration of our campus diversity through food: on Tuesday, Feb. 11 at 5 p.m. in Sherman Dining Hall.

Faculty and staff will be able to get into the dinner for FREE by showing their Brandeis identification card. The “Around the World in One Night” dinner event will feature menus contributed by five Brandeis student cultural groups. Some of the featured recipes will include Eba and Egusi Soup (Brandeis African Student Organization), Vegetable Kottu Roti (South Asian Student Association), Stew Chicken Jamaica (Caribbean Cultural Club), Arroz Con Leche (Brandeis LatinX Student Organization), and Beef Chow Fun (Club Cantonese). Please join us in this opportunity to bring our entire campus together.

New Parking & Transportation System - Coming Soon

The university parking system is going paperless. Starting next month, the Office of Parking and Traffic is rolling out a new and improved online parking and transportation management system where you can submit parking permit applications online and pay for parking citations with an online credit card payment. The new system will not only streamline parking operations and services but provide the community with an easy, flexible system accessible from anywhere. In partnership with Procurement and ITS, this is a multiphase project to bring enhanced parking services to campus that include changes to processes and procedures that will benefit students, faculty, staff, and guests. LastPass Password Manager

Are you overwhelmed by having 1,234 different passwords or creating and remembering them for each of your online accounts? Did you know that 81% of security breaches are caused by weak or reused passwords?  ITS is excited to offer LastPass, a password management tool to all members of the Brandeis community. In keeping with security best practices, LastPass is a secure way to store and manage your login info for your online accounts. You can also easily create a strong, unique password for every online account to improve your online security. All you need to remember is a single (master) password, so when you visit websites, LastPass can automatically fill in your credentials for you. Student Involvement Prizes and Awards
Nomination deadline: Monday, Feb. 24

The Dean of Students Office is seeking nominations from faculty and staff of undergraduate students who have made outstanding contributions to the Brandeis community, including contributions of leadership, social consciousness and activism, community building, and service. While special attention will be paid to graduating seniors, several prizes will go to students in other class years.

Please complete the nomination form by Monday, Feb. 24.

The selected students will be honored at a ceremony on May 1st and will be listed in the Commencement program. Please direct all questions to the Dean of Students Office at deanofstudentsoffice@brandeis.edu.

Swim Lessons with the Brandeis Varsity Swim Team
Beginning Feb. 28

The Brandeis Varsity Swimming and Diving team is hosting its bi-annual youth swim lesson program for all children of faculty, staff, and the surrounding neighborhood. This program brings children ages three and older together with experienced instructors for private (one-on-one) instruction. The goal of the program is to provide quality instruction geared to the individual needs of the child in a safe, supportive, and enthusiastic environment. A package of six lessons is offered for $220 or a pay-as-you-go flex plan for $40 per lesson.

IA is on the Move
Friday, Feb. 14

The Institutional Advancement Division, currently located in Bernstein-Marcus, will be moving to University Office Park at 51 Sawyer Rd. Suite 200, on Friday, Feb. 14. All contact information for IA departments and staff members will remain the same.  Interoffice mail should continue to be addressed to Institutional Advancement, MS-122, and donor correspondence and gift checks should continue to be addressed to Institutional Advancement, MS-126.

The new space reflects the changing culture of Institutional Advancement and will enable IA to support the creativity, energy and momentum of a forthcoming campaign. The move also alleviates space issues in the Administration Building.

Workday Training - Redesigned Program

Workday@Brandeis team is excited to announce the launch of its redesigned training program coming next month. The new program is based on your Brandeis role and includes a hands-on element allowing you to practice what you learn in an instructor-led environment. The program will include topics such as hiring and managing, financial transactions and reporting and more. The first class to be offered is Workday for Student Hiring Managers on Tuesday, Feb. 25 from 9:30 a.m. - 12 p.m. This class will be offered monthly and targeted for faculty or staff who are responsible for hiring and supervising student workers. Additional courses will be added to the schedule in the upcoming months.

Improving Business Writing

Learn how to create well-written e-mail messages, memos, reports and other materials. Review ways to enhance the “readability” of your messages and tips to help make e-mail writing faster and easier. Special focus is on seven principles of effective business writing and how to approach a writing task. The workshop will also review aspects of punctuation, grammar and word usage, and you will learn about Web resources that can help you further develop your writing skills.   • Time Management, Thursday, April 9.  In this session, participants will learn proven techniques for managing time effectively.

Healthy Yoga at Your Desk

The Office of Human Resources will be offering sessions of Yoga at Your Desk lead by Lori Dougherty from 12:15 to 12:45 p.m. on:

Session will focus on breathing exercises, meditation and stretches you can do at your desk. Yoga is not just for those who are flexible. It is more about connecting your breathing to the movement of your body while increasing mindfulness. The benefits of yoga include physical strength, better posture, body awareness, relaxation and the reduction of stress. Please wear comfortable clothing.
