Mr. Lazarof’s connection with Brandeis is not new, as he graduated from the university in 1959 with a Master of Fine Arts degree in Musical Composition. His archival collection came to Brandeis in 2019 as part of the Henri Lazarof Living Legacy, which was established by a gift to the university. The collection, which documents the musical life of this influential alumnus, has been fully processed and is open to researchers.
The collection, which fills over 50 boxes, contains recordings, professional and personal papers, photographs, scores, and much more. Of particular note is the series of music manuscripts for over 150 of his works, which reveal his creative process in great detail.
The selections displayed in this digital exhibit represent just a small fraction of the depth and breadth of this wonderful collection and the things to be learned within it. We invite you to immerse yourself in this exhibit, to become better acquainted with the magnificent life and work of Henri Lazarof, and to become inspired to explore the collection, and music, further.
