Congratulations to Beth Sirull, who was appointed to the advisory board of the California Organized Investment Network, which works to guide insurer capital into socially responsible and environmentally sustainable financial investments that benefit communities. She serves as executive director of Pacific Community Ventures, where she focuses on corporate social responsibility and socially responsible investing. Forbes magazine named Beth one of the top 30 social entrepreneurs in the United States. Clara Rubinstein was named to the Illinois DREAM Fund Commission by Gov. Pat Quinn. The commission is designed to help the children of immigrants pay for college. Clara is an attorney and formerly served in the City of Chicago’s Office of Corporation Counsel and Department of Planning and Development. Robert Strickland joined Leap, a leading provider of wireless communications services, as executive vice president and chief technical officer. He is responsible for the company’s information technology, engineering and network operations, and is charged with setting and managing Leap’s long-term network technology strategy. Robert most recently ran his own consulting firm, providing strategic IT and go-to-market operational planning as well as enterprise IT validation to companies and their customers. From 2006-10, he was senior vice president and chief information officer at T-Mobile USA. The U.S. Senate confirmed Michael Horowitz as inspector general at the Justice Department. He recently worked as a partner at Cadwalader, Wickersham & Taft, where he focused on white-collar defense, internal investigations and regulatory compliance. From 2003-09, he served as a commissioner at the U.S. Sentencing Commission. As commissioner, Michael was instrumental in rewriting guidelines for fraud, antitrust, intellectual property and money-laundering offenses, and corporate compliance programs. He previously worked at the Justice Department in its criminal division from 1999-2002, serving as deputy assistant attorney general and then chief of staff.
