Nicholas Brown received a master’s in musicology from King’s College London and performed regularly with the London Symphony Chorus, the London Philharmonic Choir and the BBC Symphony Orchestra. After graduation, he completed an internship at the White House, serving in the social office in the Office of the First Lady. He now works as the executive assistant to the provost at Harvard. Benjamin Gurvis and Emily Vaillette are engaged. The wedding ceremony will take place in fall 2013. Benjamin and Emily met at Brandeis in 2007 while watching the Red Sox win the World Series. In more domestic-bliss news, Eileen Smolyar was recently engaged to Phillip Rakhunov, an alumnus of Tufts and the Northeastern University School of Law. Noam Kagedan and Lisa Huberty ’09 were married in Garfield, N.J., on Feb. 20. Becky Loren married Philip Davidson, a U.S. Air Force captain whom she met while studying at Duke University in North Carolina, on June 24 in Marlboro, N.J. Shana Lebowitz writes, “I’m currently an editor for greatist.com, a health and fitness site. We’re a pretty new startup; we just celebrated our one-year anniversary. We publish articles, news and tips about everything from sleep to stress to nutrition.” Alana Tilman graduated from the Davidson Graduate School of Education at the Jewish Theological Seminary with an M.A. in Jewish education that included a concentration in informal and community education. Hannah “Boots” Janoowalla is engaged to Muffadal Saylawala, a 2009 alumnus of the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign. They will be married in 2014 in Chicago. Rebecca Fisher will graduate this summer from Duke’s Nicholas School of the Environment with a master’s degree in environmental economics. Max Fischlowitz-Roberts writes, “I’m beginning the process of relocating to Boston, where I’ll be participating in the Newton Teacher Residency starting in the fall. I’m excited to be back in the Boston area and to get my Massachusetts teacher certification!” Mariel Gruszko earned an M.A. in the social sciences with a concentration in anthropology from the University of Chicago. Jessica Wood married Matthew Fedorka on Dec. 11, 2011, in Keene, N.H. Julia Cohen, M.A.’11, works in the Massachusetts Division of Health Care Finance and Policy. She earned her master’s degree in international economics and finance, with a focus on economic policy, from the Brandeis International Business School. Ezra Fishman and Nicola Brodie ’09 were married on Dec. 29, 2011, in Jerusalem. Nicola is finishing her third year at the Medical School for International Health at Ben-Gurion University.
