Brandeis Applauds Its Latest Nobel Laureate

In October, Drew Weissman ’81, GSAS MA’81, P’15, H’23, and his longtime collaborator Katalin Karikó, H’23, were awarded the Nobel Prize in Physiology or Medicine for their pioneering mRNA research, which helped lay the groundwork for the Pfizer-BioNTech and Moderna COVID-19 vaccines.
All told, COVID-19 vaccines have been given more than 13.5 billion times (and counting), saving millions of lives.
