Academic Support

Academic Support

Business School students have access to numerous free support resources while at Brandeis University. Students are encouraged to first contact their Program Advisor if they are experiencing trouble with a course, or have questions about academic standards.

Office Hours

Every instructor is required to hold regular business hours. Consult with your instructor to learn about availability, and how you can meet with them for help in their classes.

Teaching Assistants

Most classes have Teaching or Instructional Assistants. Teaching and Instructional Assistants may serve as a back-up when the instructor is not available. Students should take advantage of the expertise of Teaching and Instructional Assistants, many of whom are subject-matter experts and are familiar with the teaching methods and styles of specific instructors.

 Library Workshops

The Brandeis Library offers a plethora of online and in-person training opportunities for students in subjects like SQL, Python, MatLab, and R.

LTS Library Research Guide

Jason Bernard compiled this Business Guide in 2019 specifically for business school students. The resources selected serve as a starting point for study and research.

Student Accessibility Support

Brandeis University’s Student Accessibility Support (SAS) office is dedicated to advancing equity with and for students with disabilities. This is the office through which students can request accommodations for physical, sensory, psychological, medical and learning disabilities.

Tutor Request Process

Students who have met with instructors and teaching or instructional assistants and still struggle with course material may request a tutor. Students seeking tutors should contact their Program Advisor for more information.

English Language Programs

English Language Programs (ELP) has a dedicated representative for students of the International Business School. The representative offers language support through a series of workshops, individual tutorials, language coaching sessions and collaborations with business school faculty and staff.

Brandeis Counseling Center

The Brandeis Counseling Center (BCC) has a dedicated representative for students of the International Business School. This representative, as well as other counselors, addresses all concerns with sensitivity to and respect for diversity and individuality. This office maintains the strictest standards of privacy and confidentiality and serves as a resource to the entire Brandeis community.

Ombuds

According to Don Greenstein, JD, University Ombuds, this office is the "place to go when you don't know where to go". Members of this team support the dignity, well-being, and safety of each person who visits by providing a safe space to talk confidentially and off the record about difficult situations and offering conflict resolution support.

CARE team

The Care Team evaluates and addresses student behavior that is concerning, and coordinates the resources of the university to intervene and provide necessary supports. Anyone can submit a reporting form anonymously to alert the University about a one-time incident or ongoing concerning behavior.
