Elaine Heumann Gurian lives part of every year in Vieques, Puerto Rico, which was hit hard by Hurricanes Irma and Maria. Months later, most of the island is still without electricity, she writes, but is coming back thanks to the islanders themselves and people from the U.S. who love the island. Elaine spends the rest of the year working as an international museum consultant. “This year,” she writes, “I have a specialist Fulbright to go to Ukraine to help with its new museum, the Museum of the Maidan, which surveys the 90-day revolution that moved the Ukraine government back toward the West.”
