Qianran is a rising senior from Chongqing, China, triple majoring East Asian Studies, Economics, and Environmental Studies. She is particularly interested in historic heritage preservation in East Asia. Qianran is conducting researches regarding this area of study. This past summer, Qianran did an intensive summer program in Osaka, Japan, to hone her Japanese language skills and to further her researches on historic heritage preservation. For Qianran, studying Japanese has become an integral part of the East Asian Studies program since it helped her better appreciate Asian cultures. During the summer of her sophomore year, Qianran worked as a mentor in the Gateway Scholars Program, in which she advised new incoming international students. She helped them manage the college workload and adjust smoothly as they enter Brandeis. In her spare time, Qianran enjoys photography, cooking, and listening to music. She holds weekly Japanese language table at school to encourage students to practice Japanese outside of classroom. Feel free to contact Qianran with any questions regarding the East Asian Studies major/minor!
