This section offers information on childcare and schooling in the Waltham area. Children under age 5 are not eligible for public schools. The various childcare options for children under age 5 are described below. For school-age children, there is information regarding registering children for school and links to area school systems below.
Childcare
Finding a suitable child-care provider, especially for infants and children under 5, can be extremely challenging. Please start your childcare search as early as you can.
- Lemberg Children's Center offers child care for children ages 6 weeks through 6 years old. The center is open to the public and often has a waiting list, so contacting them as soon as possible is recommended for parents interested in enrolling their child.

- Bright Horizons At Waltham is a chain childcare facility provides childcare and program to infant, pre-school, and Pre-Kindergarten.
- Discovery Village Childcare is open to all children aged one month to 7 years, if you are interest in the facility, please schedule an virtual or in person tour to learn more and read the enrollment process.
- Waltham Childcare Center offer a year-round program for ages, 4 weeks up to kindergarten.
- Integrated Preschool Program (Waltham Public School) is a special education program offered through the Waltham Public Schools. The integrated preschool programs located at the Northeast & Stanley Elementary Schools in which less than half of the children have a diagnosed special need. In order to provide identified children with access to typical peers, children without diagnosed or suspected needs are recruited to attend classes on a part time basis.
Waltham Public School
Waltham Public School consists 6 Elementary Schools, 2 Middle Schools, a High Schools and a Dual Language School. Elementary schools serve children from kindergarten through grade 5, the middle Schools serve children from grade 6 through grade 8. There is only one high school serving children from grade 9 through grade 12. As soon as possible after locating housing in Waltham, we suggest that families obtain a school information packet from the Parent Information Center (PIC) at Waltham High School 617 Lexington Street, Waltham, MA. You can pre-register online, but you still will need to come in to the PIC with the required documents to complete the registration process.
