Remembering Barbara Mandel, P’73, H’19
Nov. 22. 2019
To the Brandeis Community,
It is with sadness that we share news of the death of Barbara Mandel, a Brandeis parent, honorary degree recipient, and trustee.
Barbara was a remarkable woman — a dedicated philanthropist and humanist, who gave of her time and resources to improve the lives of others. We were most fortunate to have her as a fully engaged and long-term trustee who also served as vice chair of the board. All members of the Brandeis community benefited enormously from her wisdom and experience, gained over a lifetime of volunteer work with Jewish, Israeli, and educational nonprofit organizations.
Barbara loved Brandeis University. Like her late husband, Morton L. Mandel, P’73, H’89, she was committed to our faculty, staff, and students, and contributed to Brandeis in so many ways. We will forever be grateful. She will be greatly missed.
We share our condolences with her daughter Amy ’73; her son, Thom; her daughter Stacey; and the whole Mandel family.
May Barbara Mandel’s memory be a blessing.
Sincerely,
Ron Liebowitz
President
