Embedded Systems Programming

This course examines the unique characteristics, concerns, and constraints of embedded systems programming. It provides a brief overview of the hardware and software building blocks and tools used to create an embedded system as wall as specific constraints that the embedded SW engineer or programmer works within. The course discusses interprocess communications, resource utilization and overall design in the context of simple and complex embedded systems.


At the end of this course the student will be able to:

1. Understand many of the hardware and software building blocks and tools for embedded systems.
2. Understand the concerns unique to embedded systems with interprocess communications, resource usage, and overall design.
3. Select appropriate toots for use in embedded software development.
4. Design and code the software for a simple simulated embedded system.

Prerequisites: Programming of some kind (preferably C, C++ or C#)
