Humanities Renovation Proposal
This preliminary sketch
suggests an alternative layout for the Humanities group of buildings.
Through a network of new corridors, additions, and infill, a coordinated and
clarified grouping can take shape. The end results may include: a
unification of formerly dispersed parts; one centralized service area with
elevator access to all levels; ADA elevator access to all levels; informal
social/seating spaces within new corridor additions; a greater sense of
community; new classroom spaces within existing building voids; a centralized
lounge/coffee shop function space; a redistribution of existing space, including
recaptured existing space made redundant by centralized service, etc.; and
conversion of the central space into an academic quadrangle, with appropriate
ground cover, grading, seating, reduced paving, and trees.
