Epstein '96 helps tie mystery virus that's killed 47 to bats in Saudi Arabia

Veterinarian and epidemiologist Jonathan Epstein '96 was part of the team that helped trapped bats now identified as the cause of Middle East Respiratory Syndrome, or MERS. The illness has sickened 96 people in the Middle East and killed 47 of them, according to an article in the New York Times.

Epstein was previously featured in the Brandeis Magazine feature, "The Virus Hunter."
